Headline:The two best athletes in the history of Malaysian sports

Short Article:

Malaysia lost two of the best athletes in their respective sports, Chong Wei in badminton while Nicol in the squash arena was once ranked number one in the world. The main focus of 2019 is definitely on the retirement of the two national legends who are not only domestic attractions but from all over the world.

Chong Wei himself did not dream of such a retirement where an emotional announcement was made on 13 June.World badminton hero Chong Wei decided to leave badminton because he needed to rest from his nose cancer.

In 19 years representing the country, the Penang native has won all the biggest tournaments in the world, but among his regrets, he failed to present the Olympic gold, Asian Games and Thomas Cup gold medals to Malaysia.

Even more shocking is the retirement of another national sports idol, Datuk Nicol David continues to be the topic of conversation of Malaysians this year which to some extent does not seem to believe in the resignation of another big name in Malaysian sports.

Selected as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) by sports fans around the world, Nicol dominates the squash world with eight world championships and leads the world's best ranking for 9 years in a row.

20 years flying the Jalur Gemilang, a player based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, throughout his career made an official announcement on 19 February 2019 to retire in June, Akbar Sahari and I were honored to have a touching interview.

Sadly, Chong Wei and Nicol are no more, but the heroes and heroines continue to contribute to national sports in their own way after their careers in sports.

Again 2019 is a year of recognition to Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Datuk Nicol David.Thank you for the sweetest memory of Malaysian sports, and we will always miss you both.
